[Mod] Aging [aging]

Aging Mod
slowly ages the user over time, and adds effects accordingly

Current Stuff

Chat Commands:
  • /age - Displays your current age
  • /setage <player> <age> - Set a player's age, "immortal" for immortality
  • /cure <player or blank> - Cure yourself or another of all current diseases
  • /agespeed <seconds in one year> - Set aging speed

New Items:
  • Fountain of Youth - Resets age to 0 (aging:fountain_of_youth)
    • Crafting -

  • Cancer Cure - Begins Curing mechanism for cancer (aging:cancer_cure)
    • Crafting -
      Image
  • Cancer Funding - Funding necessary to research for a cancer cure, any flower can be used (aging:cancer_funding)

  • Cancer Research - The result of the Cancer Funding (aging:cancer_research)
    • Crafting -

  • Effects
    • Slower Movement
      • Probability of contracting effect over time (x-axis = years, y-axis = percent chance)

      • Speed penalty (x-axis = years, y-axis = speed multiplier [divide by 100 to get actual value])

      • Cure - Use your walking stick! (default:stick)
    • Memory Loss
      • Probability of contracting effect over time (x-axis = years, y-axis = percent chance)

      • Over Time (every 30 seconds) a hotbar space is removed, minimum is 1 space
      • Cure - Eat some Memory Improving Herbs (default:dry_shrub)
    • Cancer
      • Probability of contracting effect over time (x-axis = years, y-axis = percent chance)

      • Damage Taken Over Time (x-axis = Tens of seconds, y-axis = hp damage every 10 seconds)

      • You get a random amount of diamonds (1-50), mese blocks (1-5), and gold ingots (1-75) from your distant uncle, cousin, nibbling, or aunt.

whoa, this looks pretty cool. One question, is the rate of ageing easily adjustable, or a setting?

Oh yes, I forgot to mention. There is a command /agespeed <seconds in one year>

This might be closely coming into what minecraft has. that is Minecraft Comes alive.

Overall very nicely done.
Hope see more features and you can make some cool interesting features.
I'm a Transgender no shame about it.
I prefer to be considered as a "Girl/Lady/Miss/Madam/Female" for now on.

maybe your playerskin changes as you age (based off the default model) when u a kid u look like a kid sam, when u old u have grey hair and wrincles

I tried it out and discovered a major issue. Every second I got a year older. This led to me getting insanely rich, old, and ill. I looked at your code and noticed that (at the top) there is line that sets the default ageing speed, which is set to 1. Is this value supposed to be in seconds? If so, how about setting the default to something for realistic; if not, then there is a bug somewhere. BTW, I am using MineTest version 0.4.16.

I'm not fan of the idea I can have cancer in Minetest. It's already hard enough for people IRL in my honest opinion. But the mechanics seem to be interesting. The best could be that your player model and skin change over time. But it might be harder to do.

I changed aging.agingSpeed to 3360 for me, so it can be realistic. Now is there a way to set a beginning age? It doesn't seem right that a newborn is wandering around and trying to survive like an adult.

From playing around with it and having the aging speed at a 1, it looks like users get diagnosed with cancer which I think slowly damages them. As users get older they also get slower, and have to wield a stick to walk at a normal speed. It is also interesting how the HUD bar gets smaller as the user begins to "forget" things. It eventually gets down to 1 square. It is pretty cool for long term playing, if you have the aging speed set correctly. It really just becomes something in the background that shows up later when as the player gets older. My favorite part is when imaginary relatives die and give you inheritance. You end up getting gold, mese, and diamond blocks as inheritance. You can get filthy rich whenever you have the aging speed set at a 1.

So basically, this allows players to age. It is weird how when a player begins to play a world for the first time, they start out at the age of 0, and yet are fending for themselves like an adult. I really think there should be a way to change the initial starting age, so if it used on a server, when players join they start out at an age like 20 or something. I am not quite sure how to do that, and I don't know if this mod is being worked on at all anymore.
