Pixlexia[WIP]

by Shiv » Sat Mar 30, 2019 16:30

Hello Everyone.......

I am a new user in Minetest and I wanted to share what I recently have worked upon. The name of texture pack is PIXLEXIA. Yeah, the name is pretty wierd( i think ), but I like it.

Download link(latest version - v0.2 ):
https://www.mediafire.com/file/tfuymmbiu566u01/Pixlexia_%5BWIP%5D.zip/file

Video based on the texture pack:https://youtu.be/KBfRjumPZ-I

    Information on the pack:
•It is an 8x8 pack.
•Has a simplistic cartoonish feel with a colourful and radiant colour palette.
•Was inspired from Rodrigo's pack and BlockPixel - Minecraft ( just inspired, not edited or ported).
•Currently has the very basic textures, so it is like a rolling release.
•Being made by only me so updates would be little slow :D.
•Surely will boost performance on slow devices like mine.
•The aim will be to complete the default ones first and then will come the mods :P

Feel free to request for editing of the pack and point out errors. <3
You may read following posts for additions or screenshots.....

The images don't load. Please use something like imgur.com or just upload them directly to the forums.

Hi. The simplest way to post screenies is as Sofar has written, on this Forum:

1. Compress them so that they're less than 1MB each
2. Open new post in this thread
3. Upload pictures as attachments to the post (max 3 for each)
4. Right-click on the first attachment and choose "copy link"
5. Locate the text cursor where you want the picture to be placed in your post
6. Left-click on the "Img" button up there
7. press Ctrl+V to embed the link to the attachment within image marks
8. check the result in "Preview"

As far as Imgur is concerned I had had troubles due to the site requiring proving that I'm not a robot every ten minutes. Finally, when I failed for the tenth time or so to pass the test, I quitted.

A QUICK NOTE :

•The texture pack is 8x8. Good news for low PC users like me.
•It was inspired from Rodrigo's pack and BlockPixel - Minecraft. ( Just inspired, not edited or ported)
•I used D00med's pack as base because it was 8x8.
•I tried to give it a cartoonish feel :D

Thank you voxelproof for help.

Happy Minetesting everyone. (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

Hello Everyone. :D

Pixlexia has now been released on mediafire. Though there are some textures left out like wool, permafrost etc. , I decided to upload the textures so that anybody can tell about the problems they face ( I don't think anyone would ) and so that I can understand what else can be done for the betterment of the pack.

Here is the link for download : http://www.mediafire.com/file/rn45ia4785kxl1d/Pixlexia.zip/file

You may also see the trailer type video of Pixlexia on Minetest I made and uploaded on YouTube. The video is a little bit laggy because my laptop doesn't support playing and recording gameplay at the same time but I tried my best for the video. Here is the video's link : https://youtu.be/KBfRjumPZ-I

Please consider using github or gitlab instead of mediafire. Mediafire and other sharing platforms are known to delete your files if you stop using your account and then nobody can enjoy them anymore.

You also should choose a license - if the license isn't open source compatible, it would not be allowed on this forum. PM me if you need help choosing a license.

Hey everyone.
Hope you remember me :D

Pixlexia has got another update as well as a license ( Thanks sofar ). However my tiny brain is not able to manage Github's words ( no offence ). So links will still be hosted on mediafire : / . At first I had lost my interest in the pack but something inspired me [ The views of the pack as well as Spiderman's Uncle's words ( I know they don't imply here well but motivation can come from anywhere :P )].

Back to work now, the pack contains 46 new textures, such as wool, tools (not hoe, sorry virtual farmers but the textures I had made for them looked like pickaxe so I will make a new one soon) , beds ( the most time-taking ), boat, buckets and a SKIN. I also fixed the jungle wood textures ( It was similar to dirt ). I also made a crack_anylength texture ( can't upload due to fast cracks but you will like it ).

Download link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/tfuymmbiu566u01/Pixlexia_%5BWIP%5D.zip/file

Below are some recent screenshots. Hope you like them :D

Skin - the credits go to GreenDiamond and Nathan.S for their amazing tutorials, and the image was rendered in Blender with Black Plasma Rig.

More updates on the way ;)

Hi there!

I'm new to MineTest, and this is by far my favorite texture pack... Simple yet beautiful...

However, I can't seem to make it work in MineTest 5... Once I put it inside a newly created textures folder within the MineTest one, it doesn't show in the Content Tab when I launch the game... (Ubuntu MATE 16.04)

Any ideas as to how to solve this anyone? Thank you in advance!

(But again, this looks excellent!)

This pack would be even greater if it appeared directly in the Online Content tab in MineTest 5... Getting it would be a one-clic operation! ;)

Thank you Nunud for appreciating me... It means a lot. But I currently don't have any solution because I am a windows user. :/ But I will try my best to work the problem out. :)

Also I will post it in ContentDB once it comprises the most used textures because while trying earlier I saw somewhere that the projects uploaded should be completed or well-playable without any difficulties. Plus, I really need help in uploading it on ContentDB ( main reason) because I could not understand many things on there such as VCS Link etc. So a help on this is my uttermost requirement :P

All right, no rush... Take your time amigo, but just don't forget that there are people out there waiting for the next versions! ;)

Again, excellent idea and execution!

PS: I didn't even know what ContentDB was, that's how big of a newbie I am...

Can you run multiple instances of MineTest on the same computer without ruining everything? Maybe I could try this pack on a previous version?... (Question for everyone of course, not just Shiv!)

Hey... Just a quick word to say that I installed v 0.4.13, and the texture pack works like a charm! So pleasing!

Thank you for sharing your experience with the pack. Apparently, I found out that Pixlexia in online dictionary refers to glithes. But the pack does not contain any..... :P

Hey Shiv... I do have a piece of criticism though... The green shrubs in the grass are quite difficult to see, maybe making them a slightly different shade could help...

If you can't do github, please upload to contentdb.minetest.net, so players can use the in-game content manager to install this texture pack and get updates.
