Playing on own server without internet

Hi all, I have a little problem, i made my own internet. That is i have 12 raspberry pi's, they all have a internet function (i.g. dhcp, dns, http, mysql, irc, ftp, imap, etc, etc.) I have made it complete with router (wifi) and switch. But what is the internet without a gameserver.
So i made one of the RP's a gameserver with Minetest as game. When it was placed in my home lan it had internet and played great. Very nice software this!!! Now i have placed it in my own build 'internet' and it doesn't work anymore.

Why does this server need or client need something from the internet. What does it need? Can i produce it? Can I make a config, on the server or on the client so it doesn't search for the internet?

How exactly it doesn't work?
You probably need to manually enter server address to connect.

Internet access is needed for default public server list and default content database. For public server list and content database there are options to change the URL and the servers needed for those are publicly available as open-source software.

Other than that no Internet access is needed for base functionality. Maybe disable the remote media server.
