Network problem after Kubuntu update [solved]

by Gundul » Post

Now this is really strange. I updated my kubuntu a few days ago which first killed my grub config and after
I repaired that and could start my system again minetest refuses to start a game with my water_life mod.
The most strange is, when I use an other login than my usual one, everything works.
Also if I use the same minetest5.3.0 and the same water_life on a server and connect to it from the login
which crashes. It does not. Only when I try to start a game locally.

this is what debug says:

Code: Select all

2020-08-03 19:02:01: ERROR[ConnectionSend]: In thread 7f4e61e93700:
2020-08-03 19:02:01: ERROR[ConnectionSend]: /build/minetest-2HALFv/minetest-5.3.0/src/network/connection.cpp:3f9:
 bool con::UDPPeer::processReliableSendCommand(con::ConnectionCommand&, unsigned int):
An engine assumption 'c.data.getSize() < 0x8000*512' failed.

I have no idea what is wrong...

If you've built it yourself, try clean building (make clean then rebuild)

Thanks, I tried.

doing:

make clean
cmake . -DRUN_IN_PLACE=FALSE -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug
make -j$(nproc)

But still nothing if I want to start a game with water_life mod. Others work
and did so before.

Code: Select all

Solved

It was the water_life mod folder. I do not know why, but I deleted it completely and cloned
again from github. Now it works. :D

It was the .b3d file of the rattlesnake model

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25134

Looks like 21MB is too large as a model with animations for minetest.
Anyone can confirm this ?

I isolated to an own mod and the error is reproduceable.
