Key bindings

I have Lubuntu and got Mintest from the software center. I would like to change the key bindings but it won' lett me. Every time I change then and I exit the menu it goes back to the way it was before. Alsothere are some keys it doesn't lett me use (for examle space).

The version from the 11.10/12.04/12.10 repositories is outdated (0.3.1), the latest Minetest version is 0.4.4.
